Lucy Black Humanist

It all began back in the summer of 2017!

Having been self employed for almost 4 years with my own business, I Love Lucy’s Ironing, and being mama to 4 little Creeplings who were at this point, aged 7 and under, I needed something soul changing.

Our youngest child was born prematurely and was very poorly. When I was alone in the hospital, I researched funeral options and learned all about humanist celebrants.

We are very lucky that out son is now a happy, wild 9 year old and count our blessings every day.

A local advertisement to train to become a Humanist Celebrant was the opportunity I had been looking for and well...the rest is history!

I conducted my first ever legal wedding in March 2018 at Fasque House and have loved every single second of being a celebrant.

From the initial ‘Are you free on our date?’ to the couples meeting, learning and getting to know my couples personally, writing their bespoke ceremony, keeping them right, being a friend and a confidant to the wedding day!

The wedding day...I pinch myself every time I leave the car to marry a couple.

Witnessing them getting ready, helping dab the happy and emotional tears, sometimes dabbing my own tears, conducting their ceremony, pronouncing them as a married couple and cheering on as they seal the deal with a first kiss...those moments I will never take for granted.

My couples are my second family.

Creative writing, answering questions, legally marrying couples but the best part...being a friend!

You’ve got a friend in me...cliché?! Maybe, but never a truer word spoken

Long may Lucy Black Humanist Celebrant meet and marry the most amazing people in the world
